Maxims memory appeal goes live!

15 MAR 2017

LandlordThe New Vic was the setting for a nightclub themed launch party as Belong embarked on its search for memories of Maxims. Former DJ, Alan Wiggins, was amongst the guests and was reunited with former co-workers and frequenters of the club.

Another guest of honour at the celebration was Brian Parry, who was born in the 17th century building in 1938, when it was the Old Pomona Inn and his father was landlord.

This and many other stories were recorded at the event, which marked the launch of an exciting new collaboration between Belong and the New Vic Theatre.

An appeal is now under way to gather more memories and memorabilia from Maxims, which will be curated and crafted through a series of community writing workshops, culminating in a new piece of drama.

The play will be performed at the theatre in Basford, as well as in the Belong Heritage Gallery when it opens next year. The transformation of the former nightclub and grade II listed building is now well under way, thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
